TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani’s special envoy Ardeshir Nourian held a meeting with Indonesian Parliament Deputy Speaker Agus Hermanto in Jakarta on Friday during which they expressed solidarity with Palestinians.

During the meeting, Nourian invited the Indonesian parliament speaker to take part in the sixth International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada, which will be held in Tehran.

Nourian criticized the Zionist regime for massacring innocent Palestinian people, urging the Muslim world to be united against the occupying regime.

He also warned Muslim nations to beware of their enemies.

“Today, the enemies of Islam are hampering the progress of Muslims through creating schism among the Islamic Ummah,” he said.

Elsewhere, Nourian described the relations between Tehran and Jakarta "positive", and called for more cooperation between the two Muslim states.

He said Iran’s parliament fully supports the expansion of relations with Indonesia in various areas.

Hermanto, for his part, thanked Iran for the invitation and stressed the importance of Indonesian lawmakers’ participation in the conference.

He also hailed the long Tehran-Jakarta relations dating back to 1950.

“A very constructive relationship has existed between the two countries,” he said.

The top Indonesian lawmaker said that the Indonesian parliament calls for the expansion of ties between the two countries.
